We had a inspiring talk with Mr. Tony Meloto regarding his work with Gawad Kalinga. During the event we were encouraged to: demand Greatness in ourselves, inspire greatness in others, dont stoping hoping, love your country. He shared with us the programs and activities of Gawad Kalinga not to mention his hope that by 2024 the Philippines will be a first world country, where no one lives in a shanty, and everyone dreams, hopes and creates.
The Bare Lens – A Nude Photography Session
April 13, 2009
Dear Chaptermates:
Happy Easter!
The UAP Alabang will be holding its April General Membership Meeting with a fellowship activity “The Bare Lens”, a nude photography session with glamor photographer Patrick Mateo and model Zsahoney Tosino on 20 April 2009, Monday, at the Brasserie, Vivere Suites Alabang at 7:00PM.
Join us and inspire your architecture as we explore the related art of photography with one of the most difficult subjects, the human body. This promises to be a refreshing and exciting learning experience. Bring your digital and film cameras. Don’t worry. If you don’t have your SLR cameras with you, Point-and-Shoot cameras are as fine as the big ones. Shutter opening and speed controls are the minimum required features.
As professional courtesy to our guest model, cell phone cameras are strictly prohibited and doors will be closed during the shoot. An “Either be photographer or be model.” policy will be implemented.
Further in the night, we shall be having our annual General Elections. Do make it a point to be there and exercise your power to choose our next set of Executive Board members. This will be the time for us to choose our president for the FY2011-2012.
Door assessment is at 1,000.00PHP for non-Alabang and non-UAP guests, with buffet. Come in your smart casual attire, with of course, your cameras!
For inquiries, please get in touch with our Chapter Secretary Janus Paredes (janus_paredes@yahoo.com) for details of the event, and our Chapter Treasurer Mel Almanzor (mel_almanzor@yahoo.com) for the status of your dues and IAPOAs.
See you there!

FUTURE ARCHITECTURE – ADDENDUM
An Exhibit by the United Architects of the Philippines – Alabang Chapter
February 6, 2009
Query about the Submission of the Original High rise program:
It was requested that the original high rise design program be allowed to be displayed.
Exhibition Venue:
The exhibition venue was secured under mutually advantageous conditions, but it was requested by Alabang Town Center management that the exhibit be focused towards a smaller residential design program for the greater understanding of the mall patrons who will be the viewers.
Mechanics for submission of the high rise design program:
1)The High rise submission using the revised Alabang Town Center Lot across Theatre drive will be accepted, but this shall have to be submitted together with a residential design submission that has been announced, to satisfy venue requirements.
2)The High rise submission will follow the same design criteria, and be printed and mounted on 30 inch x 40 inch portrait format with a 2″x8″ name at the lower right. And submitted in the same announced dates.
3) The High rise submission will still undergo the prequalification review prior to exhibition.
4)There must more than one participant to pass the high rise design program for the submission to be exhibited. This is to avoid the spectacle of having a disparate, unlike entry among the boards. (So far there has been 1 to write an email.)
5)Exhibition organizers reserve the option to position the high rise submittals after the residential submission have been properly displayed.
Final notes:
The committee extends its regrets if there was confusion regarding recent announcements, we your chapter have just been trying to provide the best possible conditions for the exhibit with the least cost and maximum exposure possible, and continue to work tirelessly for you. We thank you for your continued support and energy in this exhibit and hope to see you and your entry in this great opportunity to showcase design at a well attended public venue.

Dear Chaptermates:
“Daring Structures: Buildings That Will Make You Say, WTF!!!”
November 20, 2008
I had to look up, because I could have almost sworn I was at the old AV room at the 5th floor of Melchor hall. But I wasn’t in my old college though, and around me weren’t my old classmates, rather I found myself at Portico in Serendra with new faces from the Alabang Chapter. But in front of us was Arch. Bronne Dytoc my old professor who had been good enough to humor our request for a seminar about structures and architecture, which was basically what we had now, “Daring Structures: Buildings That Will Make You Say, WTF!!!”
“Sabi nga ni Joseph” our current chapter president who knew I took up Arch. Dytoc’s class, if I signed up to take this seminar because I wanted to see if Bronne had new stuff? In my head I said perhaps, but actually I just wanted to look in on the stuff I now just barely remember.
For me the greatest thing I take away from the seminars is the understanding and inspiration of the daring structures presented. That and the explanation of the ‘magic’ of how they work, why they work and why architects made them that way.
Its also fun to see this all again after a few years of practice.

October 14, 2008 GMM at Barcino’s
October 18, 2008 UAP Alabang had its
23rd Anniversary Party at the General Membership Meeting held last October 14, 2008 at Barcino’s Restaurant and Wine Bar, Bonifacio Global City, where there was a short talk on spanish wine.
Everyone enjoyed the cheese, tapa and many other items that went well with the various wines that were served. This together with a background of each type of wine such as where they are made, in which type of glass they are best served, and what they best went together with among others.
And although no one got absolutely drunk, it was a great time as friends got together to talk and celebrate the night with great Spanish wine.
